From body lotion to tinted sunscreen, here are the body products I love the most.
Since part of a paleo lifestyle is avoiding toxins, I try to put the cleanest products on my body that I can.
Of course, there is so much greenwashing and cleanwashing these days, and I switch things up from time to time, but these are the products I believe to be pretty clean that I always come running back to.
Honest Calm Face + Body Lotion, Lavender Scent
For a while Monster 1 was always asking if she could give me foot massages for money. During my last pregnancy, she was making a killing, as I couldn't get enough of this in-home pampering.
She would squeeze a big dollop of this light-but-creamy lotion in her hand and lather it all over one of my feet before getting to work.
Aside from making her hands slide easily over and around my rough foot skin, the lotion's dreamy lavender scent was so relaxing, I often drifted right off to peaceful sleep.
Even now, this lotion is my on-the-spot go-to for dry skin. Especially during the winter months, I keep some in the arm console of my car so I can always combat chapped hands.
Andalou Naturals Perfecting Beauty Balm
I went into Whole Foods one time looking for a facial sunscreen and asked someone in the Whole Body department for a recommendation.
The woman who helped me came back with Andalou Naturals Brightening BB, Sheer Tint. She said she was super impressed with it because it worked on nearly every skin tone. She squeezed some out on the back of her hand and then offered some to me. Sure enough, it worked flawlessly for both of us, even though she was dark skinned, and I am light and freckly.
While I still love the Sheer Tint Brightening BB, I have switched to the Natural Tint Perfecting BB because I was able to "subscribe and save" to it online at a better price.
Both BBs are SPF 30, which keeps my face burn-free and happy. My mom always coached me never to leave to house without sunscreen on my face, so I rarely ever do.
This BB is both my preferred facial sun protection and my entire makeup routine (give or take some blush and mascara for church or date-night). I LOVE IT!
Tom's of Maine Antiplaque and Whitening Toothpaste
We have tried a lot of toothpastes.
Some are too "spicy" for the kids; some are strangely oily. Some are REALLY expensive. Some don't seem to do much of anything, and some make my mouth feel weird.
This one is pretty darn near perfect, and I got a bunch of it at Costco at an amazing price.
Sadly, the last time I looked for it there, I couldn't find it. So, Costco, if you're reading this, please bring it back!
Burt's Bees Mango Moisturizing Lip Balm
If you read my recent Easy Homemade DIY Lip Balm recipe post, you know I like to make my own lip balm. However, if I buy it at the store, THIS is the one I have to have.
The brand is just one part of the equation. Burt's Bees has tons of enticing scents/flavors, but there is something special about the mango.
One time on a trip my lips were DYING of dryness, and nothing I tried was helping. I asked my husband to pick up some different chapstick at the store, and Burt's Bees Mango is what he brought me.
My lips were better by the next day, and I've been in mango love ever since. From time to time I've flirted with other flavors, but they just don't have the same impact. It's always mango for the win.
Lavanila Deodorant
Oh, the world of natural deodorants.
Let's just be real: aluminum-free often equals stanky pits.
I have tried SOOOO many brands, and Lavanila is the one I keep coming back to. They have a few scents that all seem to work equally well, but vanilla lavender is my favorite. The vanilla component is very subtle and not at all headache-provoking like some vanilla fragrances can be, and the lavender is a perfect balance to it.
I won't say that I get 24-hour stink protection, but Lavanila brings me much closer to that dream than all the others I have tried.
So that's about it for now. No sponsors, no affiliates, just a few of my favorite things. Let me know in the comments what products you love!
