Impossibly easy to make, incredibly hard to put down.
This refreshing, tropical slush has just four ingredients, all blitzed up together till smooth and frothy. It doesn't get much simpler--or more crave-worthy.
The first time I made them, I had promised slushes to the monsters and intended to take just one quick sip, but before I knew it, I had downed half the batch!
This hydrating slush would be perfect post-workout, or any time you're looking for a tropical getaway in a glass. Grab a straw and get ready for instant vacation vibes.
Is that cream?
Nope! Even though this slush appears to be completely creamy, it's actually non-dairy. In fact, there's no plant-based milk or cream either!
The creamy froth is actually just a result of a high-powered blender blitzing up frozen pineapple with coconut water and lime juice.
What makes the Blue Ocean Slush blue?
That gorgeous blue hue comes from blue spirulina. You may have heard of spirulina, often a component of powdered-greens mixtures. Blue spirulina is an extracted component of that same green spirulina. Like regular spirulina, blue spirulina is an excellent source of free-radical-fighting antioxidants, and its vibrant color is completely natural!
Benefits of coconut water
According to the Cleveland Clinic, coconut water is loaded with hydrating electrolytes, including sodium, magnesium, and potassium. It is also low in calories and sugar, free of cholesterol and fat, and may help lower your blood pressure. Some studies show coconut water may also prevent kidney stones and improve skin health.
In fact, there is at least one case of coconut water being used in place of IV fluid. While I'm fairly certain this practice is not condoned by most in the medical community, it's still pretty cool!
Here's what you'll need:
8 oz frozen pineapple chunks
1/2 tsp blue spirulina
2 cups coconut water
juice of one lime
Here's what you'll do:
Place all the Blue Ocean Slush ingredients in blender in the order listed. Blend on till thoroughly mixed. Serves two. Blue Ocean Slushes are best enjoyed immediately while nice and cold!
